De knoop is doorgehakt: voor de volgende editie van de boekenclub (de 3e!) lezen we Yellowface van R. F. Kuang. Het boek vertelt hoe de worstelende schrijfster June Hayward de onuitgegeven roman van haar net overleden vriendin steelt en ineens het succes vindt waar ze altijd van droomde. Maar naarmate het boek beroemd wordt, groeien ook de vragen over wie het recht heeft om bepaalde verhalen te vertellen. Het is een scherpe, prikkelende satire over plagiaat, racisme, de uitgeverswereld en de verhalen die we ons toe-eigenen.

But as the book rises to fame, so do the questions about who has the right to tell certain stories. The book is a sharp, provocative satire about plagiarism, racism, publishing, and the stories we claim as our own.
