Lola Lijn is onderdeel van Stichting LOLA. LOLA brengt leegstaande en tijdelijk beschikbare gebouwen tot leven door er ruimte te creëren voor mensen, ideeën en initiatieven die iets toevoegen aan hun omgeving.Lola Lijn is part of Stichting LOLA. LOLA brings vacant and temporarily available buildings to life by creating space in them for people, ideas and initiatives that add something to their surroundings.

LOLA is ontstaan vanuit de overtuiging dat een gebouw meer kan zijn dan een pand dat simpelweg wordt beheerd. Een gebouw kan juist in een tijdelijke fase van grote betekenis zijn voor de buurt en de stad. Daarom combineert LOLA (leegstands)beheer met maatschappelijke programmering, kunst, cultuur, ondernemerschap en buurtinitiatieven. Zo ontstaan plekken waar mensen kunnen werken en maken, maar ook waar ruimte is voor ontmoeting, experiment en nieuwe samenwerkingen.LOLA grew out of the belief that a building can be more than a property that is simply managed. Especially during a temporary phase, a building can mean a great deal to the neighbourhood and the city. That is why LOLA combines (vacancy) management with social programming, art, culture, entrepreneurship and neighbourhood initiatives. This creates places where people can work and make things, but also where there is room for meeting, experimenting and new collaborations.

De mensen die een plek gebruiken staan daarbij centraal. LOLA biedt betaalbare ruimte aan onder andere kunstenaars, startende ondernemers, sociaal ondernemers en maatschappelijke initiatieven die niet altijd toegang hebben tot ruimte tegen reguliere marktprijzen. Gebruikers maken tegelijkertijd deel uit van een community en worden gestimuleerd om verbinding te zoeken met elkaar én met de omgeving.The people who use a space are at the heart of this. LOLA offers affordable space to, among others, artists, starting entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs and community initiatives that do not always have access to space at regular market prices. At the same time, users are part of a community and are encouraged to connect with each other and with their surroundings.

Iedere LOLA-locatie is anders. De invulling ontstaat vanuit het gebouw, de buurt en de mensen die er actief zijn. De kwartiermakers spelen daarin een belangrijke rol: zij verbinden gebruikers en buurtbewoners, ondersteunen de programmering en kijken welke initiatieven bij een plek passen. Daardoor ontstaat geen standaardconcept, maar krijgt iedere locatie de ruimte om een eigen karakter en gemeenschap te ontwikkelen.Every LOLA location is different. What happens there grows out of the building, the neighbourhood and the people who are active there. The kwartiermakers (place-makers) play an important role in this: they connect users and local residents, support the programming and look at which initiatives suit a place. So there is no standard concept: every location gets the room to develop its own character and community.

Met deze manier van werken wil LOLA bijdragen aan verbinding, leefbaarheid en inclusieve gebiedsontwikkeling.With this way of working, LOLA aims to contribute to connection, liveability and inclusive urban development.

Inmiddels bestaat LOLA al tien jaar en heeft meer dan vijftig maatschappelijke en creatieve broedplaatsen gerealiseerd in Amsterdam en omgeving.LOLA has now been around for ten years and has created more than fifty social and creative hubs in and around Amsterdam.

Lola Lijn bouwt voort op die gedachte: ruimte maken voor ontmoeting, initiatief en betrokkenheid, samen en voor de buurt.Lola Lijn builds on that idea: making room for encounters, initiative and involvement, together and for the neighbourhood.
