Een documentaire over vijf vrouwen in Colombia die hun land verdedigen, en over wat ze samen opbouwen. Na de vertoning volgt een tafelgesprek, met eten om te delen.
In Colombia heeft de uitbreiding van extractieve grenzen zowel landschappen veranderd als de dagelijkse relaties waarmee gemeenschappen het leven in stand houden.
Deze documentaire volgt vijf vrouwen in vijf regio's van het land terwijl ze hun gebied verdedigen tegen verschillende vormen van extractieve druk, zoals mijnbouw, infrastructuurprojecten en toeristische ontwikkeling. Dat doen ze in het dodelijkste land ter wereld voor milieuverdedigers.
De vrouwen in deze film verzetten zich niet alleen tegen extractie. Met hun dagelijkse praktijken geven ze vorm aan andere manieren om voor hun gebied te zorgen, het te organiseren en te besturen. Voor hen is de vraag veel directer: wat betekent het om het leven te verdedigen als de wereld om je heen je land ziet als een grondstof die je kunt winnen?
De documentaire is gefilmd vanuit gedeelde dagelijkse ervaringen en ontvouwt zich in drie bewegingen:
- hoe extractie wordt beleefd
- hoe vrouwen als antwoord samenkomen
- wat ze vanuit die gezamenlijke basis opbouwen
Extractivisme komt niet als één enkele breuk. Het stapelt zich langzaam op, verandert het leven op ongelijke wijze en komt als eerste terecht op de lichamen van vrouwen, via materiële en emotionele omstandigheden.
Door juntanza, het samenkomen, worden individuele ervaringen een bron van collectieve kracht en politieke actie. Uit dit organiseren ontstaan praktijken van her-bestaan: in agro-ecologie, in de verdediging van het lichaam als eerste territorium, in gemeenschappelijk weven en in alternatieve economieën die geworteld zijn in solidariteit.
Dit is geen verhaal over extractie. Het is een verhaal over wat vrouwen ondanks extractie opbouwen.

In Colombia, the expansion of extractive frontiers has transformed both landscapes and the everyday relations through which communities sustain life.
This documentary follows five women across five regions of the country as they defend their territories against different extractive pressures, including mining, infrastructure projects and tourism development. They do so in the deadliest country in the world for environmental defenders.
The women at the centre of this film are not only resisting extraction. Through their everyday practices, they are shaping alternative ways of caring for, organising and governing their territories. For them, the question is more immediate: what does it mean to defend life when the world around you treats your land as a resource to be extracted?
Filmed through shared everyday experiences, the documentary unfolds across three movements:
- how extraction is lived
- how women come together in response
- what they build from that collective ground
Extractivism does not arrive as a single rupture. It accumulates slowly, reshaping life unevenly, and lands first on women's bodies through material and affective conditions.
Through juntanza, the act of coming together, individual experiences become a source of collective strength and political action. From this organising, practices of re-existence emerge: in agroecology, in the defence of the body as first territory, in community weaving and in alternative economies rooted in solidarity.
This is not a story about extraction. It is a story about what women build in spite of it.
The screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion, with food to share around the table.
